Gathering to Honor the Trees Cut Down
the campus grounds of KCC are not well shaded with trees
Gathering to Honor the Trees:
Sunday, June 6th, at 6 pm in KCC Parking Lot
by Blu Dux on 31 May 2006
Once there were seven large Monkeypod Trees surrounding the back parking lot of Kauai Community College. They provided a beautiful, shaded refuge from the hot sun, and were enjoyed by students, faculty, and visitors to the campus. These trees were recently cut down without notice to the students, faculty, or the public. The official excuse was that they were causing some asphalt to buckle. Many members of the community were shocked and upset by the loss of these trees. There will be a gathering to honor the trees on Sunday, June 6th at 6PM in the KCC parking lot. Folks will come together to express their concerns and to address the lack of respect for our aina.
