State & County transportation departments are massive users of herbicides in public spaces

We need people to request a hearing for SB2637. This is a bill relating to herbicide use along public roadsides. If it passes, all departments and agencies responsible for the maintenance of public roadsides would adopt non-chemical
and integrated vegetation management programs.

Herbicide use would be reduced:
25% by Jan. 1, 2007
50% by Jan. 1, 2008
100% by Jan. 1, 2009

The last day to hear a bill for this year is this Friday March 3, 2006. The notification of a hearing needs to be posted at least 72 hours before the hearing. This means by tomorrow Feb. 28,2006.

Gary Hooser requested a joint hearing last week. His office said that if more people will respond with a request as soon as possible, the Chair could see that there is a great deal of support and be moved to set a hearing date.
