We have completed a revision (Rev 3.7 dated 070130) of what had been a three part series we previously published on this website. It is now a single document titled "Kauai 2007 to 2050" and today was submitted to the Hawaii 2050 Task Force project as a vision statement. Copies also went to Kauai Mayor Bryan Baptiste, Councilwonam JoAnne Yukimura, State Senator Gary Hooser and 2nd Congressional District Representative Maize Hirono.
As is said in the document:
"Note that this saga starts with the troubles of today, goes through some worse times ahead, and ends up with what I think is a happy ending. It is twenty-three pages, so if you get tired of dragging through it, just skip forward to something that looks a bit more promising."
A PDF (high relsolution 7.4meg) version is available at:
The help from Linda Pascatore and Jonathan Jay was crucial in getting this document together. Their efforts are greatly appreciated. Few would even read my long, rough and ragged "laundry list".
In addition, with the help of Judy Dalton, of the Kauai Sierra Club, and Senator Gary Hooser, I was able to get a "scholarship" to attend the August 26th Hawaii Sustainability 2050 conference on Oahu. Mahalo to both of you.
