Your site is a great Hawaii-based resource for preparing for the inevitable transition to life on the downside of the oil production curve.

I read your site regularly but have not seen mention of a conference on Hawaii Island, Hawaii Energy Challenge 2008. Matt Simmons is giving the Keynote.

Thanks again for putting together and maintaining a great site, and good to luck to all your peeps running for office on Kauai.

Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference (HLPC) invites you to attend Hawaii Energy Challenge 2008 (HEC08). This conference will be held on November 20th and 21st at the Fairmont Orchid Hawaii on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast.

HEC08 will assemble keen minds to realistically assess the rising cost of imported oil, its import for key sectors of Hawaii’s economy and impact on island lifestyles, and a range of forward-thinking, dynamic opportunities to develop sustainable energy and liquid fuels.

Keynote Speaker: Matthew Simmons, founder and chairman of Simmons & Co. International an independent investment bank specializing in the entire spectrum of the energy industry and author of Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy.
