Opening in November of 1998, Forward Hall has been a hotbed of musical activity for local, regional and national bands. Many of the acts are affiliated with the Home Grown Music Network, an independent distribution label/outlet. The styles of music played by these various bands span across the musical spectrum from blues to jazz, from country to bluegrass, and from funk to jam rock. Every weekend one can find an eclectic array of tunes filling the air. Some of the bands that have made appearances there include; Donna The Buffalo, Hypnotic Clambake, ekoostik hookah, Schleigho, The Recipe, Jazz Mandolin Project, Agent Porridge, and the Beatroots to name a few.

Forward Hall is also a great place for those who are into taping music (audio & video). Most of the bands are very permissive about it and Rod, the sound man, is very accomodating for those who wish to get a board mix recording. So, if you are tired of the bar scene and you want a laid back place to experience the sounds of original music, then migrate down to Forward Hall. Most shows are $5 - $7. For a taste treat try the hot chai tea with soy milk. For more information on upcoming events, you can call the Forward Hall Hotline at (814) 455-8231.
