Above are six postcards taken from my grandmother's scrapbook. Her name was Grace Anderson Howes, and she was born February 12, 1889 on Fox Road in Panama, New York. When she was a teenager, her friends sent her postcards with short chatty messages much like those seen today on E-Mail correspondence. In November, 1906, she was living in Jamestown, New York at 160 East 9th Street when she received the Brooks Hospital postcard with this message;

"Dearest Grace, I would like so much to write you a letter tonight,

I have so much to say, but it is so very late, you must excuse me now,

I have been so very busy! With love, Bernice".
