About twenty additional parking spots will be created by widening the sidewalks along Third Street between Washington Street and Spring Streets. The cost will be about a million dollars. Much of that money is required to replace the few amenities that will be removed by the scheme (trees, planters etc.). The greatest impact will be where the parking spots are needed least and the amenities are needed most... namely in front of the street's only parking garage and the Civic Center.
