Townline Road Swamp Duck
Through the lily pads,
duck's white breast parts
the pea soup marsh.

This is the first swamp we found while circumnavigating the watershed. As we traveled, it was surprising to us that so many wetlands would be encountered along ridges of the watershed. The swamp is the result of beaver dams. It straddles both sides of the road, joined by a culvert. Many stumps of flooded trees still poke through the murky water. This image was taken looking west from Townline Road, which is the border between the towns of North Harmony and Sherman.
