Summerdale Road Field Tree

Standing in scraggly victory

the tree only half remembers

that August's lightning.

 

It's amazing how some trees can be almost completely destroyed by lightning, but manage to survive and flourish. Prolific greenery was sprouting from the remaining secondary branches after a long forgotten lightning strike. This old field tree is on the east side of Summerdale Road south of Hanum Road in the town of Chautauqua.
