A common sight in Chautauqua county are big round hay bales drying in the sun. Although the picture was taken in summer, the drying hay is a portent of the coming Autumn. Many barns are gone now, and in recent years these hay bales have not gone into barn storage. Instead they are covered in tight fitting white plastic storage bags and look much like giant marshmallows as Halloween approaches. Taken on a hillside on Prospect Road between Parker and Station Roads in the town of Chautauqua.
