Strunk Road Corn Bluff
Singing from the bluff
over ancient fields--
silken hair, decked in green--
Seneca Corn Maiden.

A cornucopia; the corn swept around the bluff and down into the valley out of sight. A few years ago, a developer proposed a one million square foot Galleria scale mall with a parking lot for 2,000 cars across the street from this site. The mall would have straddled the watershed, and oil contaminated drainage from the parking lot would have poured into the adjacent Audubon property. Fortunately, the deal fell through and the area remains unspoiled. This field is on Strunk Road just north of Route 17 in the town of Ellicott.
