Crawford Road Gorge Marsh
Willow stump still remembers
gripping the wetland soil,
waist deep in reflected sky.

Purple loosestrife is pretty but aggressive. It's an exotic which has been crowding out native species throughout the northeast US wetlands. This marsh backs up on Chautauqua gorge near the Mayville Conservation Club. The picture was taken on Crawford Road between Bloomer and Beaujean Roads in the town of Chautauqua.
